Project to Receycle Flat Panel Televisions and Displays

The main aim of the Reflatek project is the development of viable technical, economic and environmental technology for the recycling and the revaluation of latest-generation flat screens, mainly Crystal Displays (LCD) ones and Plasma Display Panels (PDP). The project is divided into 8 main tasks, amongst which are the exploitation and dissemination of results as well as management/coordination.

The European Consortium is made up of four companies, two of which are related to the recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment – INDUMETAL RECYCLING, S.A., País Vasco and APPAREC in Flanders –, a cement company – LEMONA INDUSTRIAL, S.A., País Vasco – and an association of recycling companies in the Basque Country –ACLIMA.

As a main result of carrying out the project, the companies making up the consortium will generate knowledge and develop the necessary technology for introducing in the short term an optimum recycling process suited to the specific nature of waste and adapted to the implications of current legislation.
