The competition, which is open to all EPMA member companies, is judged by a panel of experts who gave marks to each of the entries using the following five criteria:
The standard of entries received was very high from companies across the PM industry. The outcome of the 2008 EPMA Awards for Excellence in Powder Metallurgy was as follows:

Highly Commended: Parmaco Injection Molding AG, Germany - “MicroMIM carrier with sun gear”.
Category Materials/Production Equipment:
Award of Merit - Hoeganaes Corporation - “Ancorsteel® 30 HP”
Highly Commended: Sintex a/s, Denmark - “STX2000 new alloy for stainless components”
“This year, as in many previous years, has been a difficult year for the judges to decide upon the overall winning entries as the overall standard of entries has been very high” said Jonathan Wroe, EPMA’s Executive Director.
