TotalFinaElf’s chemical division, Atofina, has just inaugurated its new polypropylene production unit at Feluy, in Belgium. The unit is the largest in the world, capable of producing 380,000 tons per year and that of the facility to 800,000 tons per year. The expansion consolidates TotalFinaElf’s position as the leading petrochemical manufacturer in Europe.
The expansion of the plant is consistent with the companies strategy of concentrating growth of large facilities, thus improving their competitiveness.
Increased production also enables them to increase the range of products available from the plant. This extends to improvement of specific material properties such as fluidity, rigidity and impact resistance.
The new unit was also designed to operate using Atofina Research’s innovative metallocene catalyst technology.
