Timken Expand Offerings for the Aerospace Industry

The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) has been steadily expanding its aerospace business over the past decade, servicing more than 30,000 main engines, gearboxes, and APUs, on 70 different platforms every year. Key recent expansions for the general aviation market include the capability to overhaul the PT6A engine, as well as the addition of numerous PT6 engine replacement parts. At a time when cash for new aircraft is tight, Timken's proven capabilities in technology development, engineering, manufacturing, repair and fleet support provide a one-stop solution for operators who need to extend the flight-hours of their existing and legacy aircraft, from fixed-wing fliers to helicopters.

While this year marks Timken's first attending the NBAA show Oct. 20-22 (Booth 2985), the company is highlighting an unrivaled offering of products and services to enhance friction management and power transmission performance for a wide range of aircraft systems.

Visit the online media kit to learn more about Timken's industry-leading capabilities:

  • Engine and component overhaul services: PT6A, PT6T, T53 engines, turbine nozzle casting replacement, fuel controls, governors and bearings;
  • Complete power transmission solutions related to bearings, APUs and gearboxes; and
  • Replacement parts and repairs for drive train systems, airfoils, and gears.

While new to the NBAA show floor, Timken is a name known to aviators throughout the century of flight. The company's bearings are on most landing gear of commercial jets, and its motion-control technologies have been mission-critical to defense and space exploration, from the moon to Mars.

Timken bolstered its aerospace portfolio with additional power transmission and aftermarket-focused acquisitions in recent years, with Purdy in 2007 and Extex in 2008. Now part of the Timken brand family, these additions extended the company's full-line complement beyond bearings and brought enhanced capabilities, with manufacturer-approved replacement parts and services for a wide variety of aircraft.

In 2008, Timken opened a new aerospace manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China, adding capabilities to serve that country's burgeoning appetite for aviation. As a trusted aerospace leader fully certified for new platforms such as China's new C919, the new facility has Timken well positioned to partner with other aerospace companies looking to increase their "made in China" percentages on such bids.

In addition to the new facility in Chengdu, China, Timken also serves its aerospace customers from facilities located throughout the United States, including Mesa, AZ; Tucson, AZ; Los Alamitos, CA; Manchester, CT; Keene, NH; Lebanon, NH; and New Philadelphia, OH.
