Outokumpu has received an order to deliver approximately 300 tonnes of LDX 2101 stainless steel rebar from Skanska, a Swedish construction firm.
The duplex steel rebar will be used in a major road infrastructure project in Stockholm, Sweden. Norra Länken is a traffic route, which is being built to decrease traffic and enhance the environment in Stockholm city. Outokumpu produces and delivers the duplex rebar from its plant located in Sheffield, UK.
The LDX 2101 stainless steel rebar is highly durable and resistant to corrosion. It also provides excellent price stability when compared to other standard stainless steel grades. As the steel rebar is strong, it is widely used in infrastructure projects for increased lifetime. The high corrosion resistance property of the rebar helps withstand extremely corrosive road salts. The stainless steel rebar also prevents traffic disruptions and huge costs by reducing future maintenance work.
The duplex stainless steel rebar has been successfully employed in complex structures like bridges, which remain unaffected even after years of service, thus assuring longer lifetime.
