PPG Industries, one of the world’s leading coatings and specialty products companies, announced that its automotive refinish business has unveiled a new wet-on-wet clearcoat with superfast air-dry capability.
DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear expands the DELTRON family of products and it represents a major advance in the refinish technology. The new clearcoat is designed specifically for the collision center market.
PPG’s DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear is developed for application on high performance basecoats like ENVIROBASE, GLOBAL REFINISH SYSTEM BC and Deltron DBC. It is ideal for collision centers that require increased productivity and excellent performance and quality.
DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear gets air dried and produces an exceptional glossy appearance within 20 to 25 minutes. In addition, handling and application of the coating is very easy. PPG’s new clearcoat does not require any idle time between coats and baking is not needed in the refinish process. The material also helps to minimize energy costs. DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear’s superfast air-dry capability enables extremely fast cycle times for both the single panel and multiple panel repairs.
Jeff Griffin, PPG collision segment’s Manager, stated that the company has enhanced the clearcoat no-bake technology to create a new wet-on-wet clearcoat that is suitable for all types of collision centers ranging from smaller shops to high-production shops.
