Precision Coating, a Katahdin company and one of the world’s largest plastics coating applicators, announced that it has partnered with Medi-Solve Coatings, a provider of lubricious, hydrophobic and hydrophilic coatings for medical device and biomedical applications.
Through the transaction, hydrophilic coating capabilities are added to fluoropolymer coating offerings of Precision Coating for medical device applications.
The partnership helps Precision Coating to achieve several objectives. The Massachusetts-based hydrophilic coating provider has excellent formulation and application expertise in the medical device field. This will help to address the growing demand from Precision Coating’s customers for coating formulation and technical capability. Medi-Solve Coatings offers additional complementary coating solution, which expands Katahdin’s range of metal finishing and coating services. Thus, the alliance provides additional growth opportunities for Katahdin in the medical device coatings industry.
Robert DeAngelis, Precision Coating’s President, stated that they are able to offer a wide range of wet and dry lubricious coating solutions to its medical device customers. He added that the skills of Medi-Solve Coatings’ team will be highly beneficial to the company to continue expansion of its coating capabilities. The partnership also helps Medi-Solve Coatings to grow its business with access to Precision Coating’s technical resources as well as customer service resources.
