Showa Denko K.K. (SDK), a Japanese manufacturer of chemical products and industrial materials, announced that it has begun construction of a new high-purity aluminum foil production facility in China.
The plant will be located at Nantong Economic & Technology Development Area in Jiangsu Province and it is expected to start operations in the latter half of 2013. The ground-breaking ceremony of the facility took place on March 2, 2012.
The manufacturing plant will produce aluminum foils mainly for electrolytic capacitors. The aluminum electrolytic capacitors are extensively used in transport equipment and electrical appliances. It is expected that demand for these capacitors will increase in the Chinese market due to continued economic development in the country.
Showa Denko Aluminum (Nantong), a subsidiary of SDK, will process rolled aluminum foils in the new Chinese plant and the final aluminum products will be delivered to customers in China. The rolled foils are supplied from the company’s facility in Sakai, Osaka, Japan. SDK intends to meet the increasing demand for high-purity aluminum foils in an appropriate time with the construction of the new manufacturing plant in China. SDK is located in the Jiangsu Province in China and the company was established on November 25, 2011.
