Optomec to Highlight LENS 3D Metal Printers at Annual Laser Additive Manufacturing Workshop

Optomec announced today that the Company will showcase its LENS 3D Metal Printers at the upcoming 5th annual Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) Workshop. Optomec LENS 3D Metal Printing systems are used to cost-effectively repair, rework and manufacture high-performance metal components in materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and superalloys.

Recent imaging enhancements in the system enable faster process development and qualification for repair applications. Optomec, and its partner EFESTO, are Gold Sponsors for the LAM Workshop and will be co-located in booth #8. The Workshop will be held at the Hilton Houston North in Texas on February 12-13.

LENS metal printers use the energy from a high-power laser to build up structures one layer at a time directly from powdered metals. LENS 3D Metal Printers include a fully integrated ThermaViz imager developed by Stratonics, Inc. This advanced thermal image enables users to correlate critical processing parameters to resultant metallurgical properties, thereby speeding process development and qualification. The resulting fully functional material offers excellent mechanical properties, similar to forged components for many applications. LENS 3D Metal Printers are used throughout the entire product lifecycle for applications ranging from Materials Research to Repair and Rework to Low Volume Manufacturing. The LAM Workshop is devoted to laser based processes for the deposition of material, and continues to attract leading equipment builders/integrators and users from industries ranging from medical to heavy machinery.
