Dow Corning Corporation is proud to present two liquid intermediates that allow for low-VOC formulating and can provide improved weatherability and heat resistance in coatings for cookware exteriors, architectural paints and coil coatings, above-deck-line marine applications, and industrial protective coatings. These two mutually miscible products can be blended at any ratio to meet compatibility and flexibility needs.
Dow Corning® 3074 Intermediate and Dow Corning® 3037 Intermediate are both methoxy-functional solventless liquid silicone resins. These two products are similar in composition, functionality and utility, but Dow Corning 3074Intermediate is highly compatible with organic resins and results in hard coating while Dow Corning 3037Intermediate has less organic capability but achieves greater flexibility.
Due to its compatibility, Dow Corning 3074Intermediate can be formulated with organic resins such as polyesters, alkyds, epoxies and acrylics. It also can be used in combination with Dow Corning® 3055 Resin to reduce water absorption and boost corrosion resistance of silicone-organic hybrid coatings.
Formulating options for these two products are through cold blending with organic resins or other silicones or through copolymerization with organic resins.
