Kevlar Brake Pad Featured at China Trade Exhibition

DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems recently participated in the 7th China Friction and Sealing Material Association (CFSMA) Conference and Exhibition in Wuhan, China. During the exhibition, the business featured the newly-designed brake pad with DuPont Kevlar.

As the friction product market grows, Chinese manufacturers are implementing the use of advanced formulations, such as ceramic and non-asbestos organic (NAO), in which aramid pulp is a necessary component. DuPont Kevlar is a para-aramid fiber. Additionally, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) have built plants in China, making the country one of the most active areas for friction materials in the world. For the past three years, the annual growth rate of friction materials in China has reached 30 percent.

Guest speakers at the seminar included leading experts in the industry. Dr. Achim Amma, DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems, delivered a presentation entitled "Kevlar Para-aramid Pulp – A Valuable Ingredient in Friction Materials." Achim discussed the advantages of using Kevlar in friction materials and how to best use the strengths of Kevlar in production.
