Photon Control Inc., a leading developer of precision measurement solutions, is pleased to announce the unveiling of the second generation of the Focus® Optical Flow Meter. (Focus 2.0) at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, Alberta, June 10-12 2014.
The Focus® 2.0 Optical Flow Meter provides high accuracy and dependability in a robust low-maintenance package for meeting the challenges of flare gas metering. The Focus® 2.0 is specifically designed for gas flaring applications, using Laser 2 Focus Velocimetry Technology, enabling oil and gas companies to accurately measure flow rates with levels of performance unmatched by other technologies.
The New system features a compact and robust design for easier installation and maintenance in the field, and includes new user-friendly software with a Wizard mode that enables an easy step-by-step configuration of parameters. The Focus® 2.0 needs only one installation point in the gas line and takes less than 3 hours to install under normal circumstances. As well, the installation can be performed without having to shut the entire system down so as not to interrupt the site operations. The Focus® 2.0 is fully compliant with ASME Code Section VIII, Division I for pressure safety and is rated intrinsically safe by CSA.
With the Focus® 2.0 optical technology, this meter can be applied to any process temperature in the range of -40◦C to +100◦C. The system is also resistant to pipe vibration, and sound interference will not affect accuracy or any other aspect of performance. The Focus® 2.0 measures a wide range of flow from 0.1 m/s to 150 m/s with accuracy up to ±2.5%. This range has been verified through extensive third-party testing and in-field applications with oil-companies around the world, which makes the Focus® 2.0 perfect solution for accurately measuring a wide range of flow rates in a variety of pipe diameters (4”-30” Inches).
