Hitachi Metals, Ltd. announced today plans to establish a high-grade tool steels sales and marketing branch of Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. in Dalian, China. Dalian in northern China is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of Japanese and foreign manufacturers. As a result, Hitachi Metals is working to expand its business in the Chinese market and to meet diversifying customer needs through the prompt supply of products.
The number of Japanese and foreign manufacturers operating in China is growing rapidly. Against this backdrop, demand for tool steels for use in molds and cutting tools is also expanding at an ever-increasing pace. As the importance of this market continues to grow, customer needs are heightening for local procurement of best-fit, high-grade and high-quality tool steels with reduced delivery times.
Hitachi Metals established Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. and commenced the machining, heat treatment and sale of high-grade tool steels and provision of technical support in March 2005 in an effort to better address customer needs better in Guangzhou and throughout southern China. In addition, Hitachi Metals has implemented collaborative arrangements with local companies in Shanghai and eastern China for the machining, heat treatment and sale of tool steels. As a Group, Hitachi Metals is committed to proactively expanding business in southern and eastern China.
In northern China, and particularly in Dalian, Japanese and foreign manufacturers continue to progressively expand their operations. To date, Hitachi Metals has sought to service its customer base in northern China by providing technical support through its Beijing Liaison Office. Lacking a local machining, heat treatment and sales presence, however, efforts to expand market share have been limited. Accordingly, Hitachi Metals has established a branch of Hitachi Metals (Dong Guan) Specialty Steel Co., Ltd. in the Dalian Free Trade Zone in northern China in order to better address the needs of its customers better.
The Dalian branch is equipped with cutting, machining and grinding equipment and provides heat treatment in collaboration with Tamayakin (Dalian) Co.,Ltd. Through this facility, Hitachi Metals has commenced activities in the machining (cutting, grinding), heat treatment and sales of tool steels and the provision of technical support. With the addition of a frontline presence in Dalian to its existing network, Hitachi Metals will establish a stable and timely product supply structure that covers the diverse needs of its customers across three districts comprising southern, eastern and northern China and is taking significant strides in expanding its tool steels sales. Furthermore, Hitachi Metals has commenced research into expansion in the Tianjin district with the aim of securing continued business growth in the Chinese market.
