Horizon Technology, Inc. is pleased to announce a new version of software for the SmartPrep Cartridge Extractor, with additional capabilities.

Horizon Technology, Inc., announces the release of SmartPrep® version 2, a validated software for the SmartPrep Extractor cartridge-based solid phase extraction (SPE) system. Version 2 further simplifies SPE processes by expanding on small volume loading and sample cleanup techniques for testing within the food safety/packing migration, environment and health monitoring, as well as agriculture/animal health markets. Manual SPE methods for standardized FDA, USDA, EPA, and AOAC methods can be converted for use with the SmartPrep Extractor and use the same selected tabbed or tab-less cartridges, as well as immunoaffinity cartridges in standard 6, 3, and 1-mL sizes.
Expanded capabilities for loading exact small volumes have increased the use of the SmartPrep Extractor within the pharmaceutical, clinical, and biotech markets for both routine SPE sample runs and method development/optimization of manual SPE methods for improved consistency and without technician bias. Version 2 now offers more efficient 1.0 mL to 1000 mL ranges, enabling the SmartPrep Extractor to automate multiple manual SPE methods and improve productivity on an average of 6% over other automated solutions.
“Our approach to designing the SmartPrep software was specifically with the SPE user in mind, so it has a simple, yet elegant and versatile approach for such a broadly used sample preparation technique”, says Robert Johnson, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for Horizon Technology. “We are proud to offer a full SmartPrep solution as a tool for manual SPE procedures – method development and routine use. ” added Toni Hofhine, global market development manager for the SmartPrep Cartridge Extractor.
