Unveiling At Formnext — A New German Engineered Proposition for the Metal AM Industry

In the heart of industrial Germany, OR LASER has developed a solid and impressive reputation for building industrial laser machines. With a 19-year history in the field, OR LASER is able to demonstrate this reputation by way of its industry leading equipment and services for laser welding, laser engraving, coating and laser cutting.

The company’s stellar client list also testifies to the quality and performance of the equipment off its production line. The foundation for each and every machine is advanced laser technology as well as the capability to develop specialist high power lasers for customised applications. Moreover, the company has developed specific software expertise to support its machine development and serial production activities.

More recently the company has developed serious capabilities with Additive Manufacturing (AM), notably with its commercially available direct metal deposition (DMD) equipment. Applying OR LASER´s expertise and experience to this process, in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, resulted in the production of a proprietary powder nozzle for the DIODELINE range of hardware. This in combination with software-supported production options enabled by the ORLAS SUITE means that the company provides its clients with exceptional DMD capabilities, as testified to by GE Power who has adopted this process and is very impressed with the OR LASER equipment capabilities. OR LASER’s powder nozzle demonstrates a wholly innovative approach — it is the first such system that allows both wire- and powder-fed cladding, resulting in 10 times the usual efficiency.

OR LASER is a company that truly understands industrial laser processes. For more than three years now, OR LASER has been conducting research and development into direct metal AM, with one primary aim — to make it more accessible. The results of OR LASER´s tireless work in this area will be revealed for the first time at the upcoming Formnext exhibition in Frankfurt and the company will be hosting a launch event on 15 November, in Hall 3.1, Booth E70 at 10.45 am – so put it in your diaries now. You don’t want to miss it!
