Dow and Cyclics Sign Global Marketing Agreement

Building on the success of the resin development alliance of last April between Dow and Cyclics Corp, a new long term agreement between Dow Automotive and Cyclics has been signed. The new agreement covers the marketing of the cyclic form of polybutylene terephthalate (CBT) resin into the global automotive, bus, truck and rail markets.

Dow will develop markets which build on the unique properties of CBT. Such markets include automotive structural composites, crash energy dissipation, occupant protection with vertical and horizontal body panels such as truck boxes and tailgates being initial target areas.

Claimed advantages of CBT resins over more conventional materials include weight savings, lower scrap rates, lower tooling costs and recyclability.
