Resilience Partners Purchase Specialty Chem

A Cleveland private equity firm has completed the acquisition of SpecialtyChem Products Corp., a custom manufacturer of specialty and fine chemicals in Marinette.

Resilience Capital Partners acquired SpecialtyChem, which filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 12, 2006. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed in a press release Friday from Resilience Capital.

The new company will be known as ChemDesign Products Inc., Resilience Capital said.

SpecialtyChem manufactures custom and proprietary specialty and fine chemicals for various industries including the specialty paper, polymer, agriculture and other industries in which high performance chemical intermediates are used. It reported $10 million in assets and $50 million in debt when it declared bankruptcy in June, according to reports from Internet news service InterNet Bankruptcy Library.
