Goodyear Enhances Fuel Line Hose Range with Aramid Fiber Reinforced Products

To meet the growing demand for small utility and recreational vehicle engines that meet tougher emission requirements, Goodyear Engineered Products has expanded its fuel line hose lineup.

Goodyear SAE 30R9 and 30R11 high-performance and low-permeation fuel hoses target outdoor recreational vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and jet skis, as well as lawn mowers, snow blowers and generators.

The hoses also meet new U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) emission requirements that began going into effect January 2007.

According to Goodyear Marketing Manager Michael Lyons, the new hoses complement Goodyear's existing SAE 30R7 high-performance, moderate permeation hose, giving original equipment manufacturers a comprehensive selection of products that also are in full compliance with the Society of Automotive Engineers' high standards.

Aramid fiber in the hose construction provides superior tensile strength and resists stretching.

"Recreational vehicles continue to grow in popularity," said Lyons, "and as long as grass grows and snow flies, mowers and blowers will be manufactured. So, small engine performance requirements will continue to be more demanding."

The new SAE 30R9 and 30R11 are compatible with a variety of fuels, including gasoline, diesel and ethanol. In addition, the SAE 30R9 can be used for sour gas and environmentally-friendly biodiesel fuel applications.

"Goodyear is targeting the small engine market with products that meet industry standards, help protect the environment and support growing alternative fuel markets," said Lyons.

The new hoses are designed for moderate-pressure applications and help resist swelling, chemical degradation and oil and fuel permeation. Outer hose covers also help resist decay from oil, heat and ozone.

Goodyear's full line of small-engine fuel hoses can be ordered in bulk or customized lengths. Inside diameters range from 1/8 to 3/4 inches.

In addition, Goodyear recently introduced its Gatorback Sport Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT, belt, with carbon fiber, for all-terrain vehicles. It also manufactures and markets automotive belts, hose, belt tensioners and air springs.
