Polymer Solutions Adds Chromatography Autosampler to Its Arsenal of Testing Servives

Polymer Solutions Incorporated, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited company that provides independent chemical analysis, physical testing, and research and development (R&D) services, has acquired a LEAP Technologies CombiPAL autosampler in their Chromatography Laboratory. The CombiPAL autosampler will be used on Polymer Solutions’ existing Thermo Trace-DSQ Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectroscopy system.

This equipment addition will increase Polymer Solutions Incorporated’s capacity to perform GC-MS analysis of liquid, solid, and gaseous samples. Applications of GC-MS at PSI include identification of contaminants and impurities in medical devices, packaging, and other products; polymer additives analysis; and deformulation.

According to Chromatography Group Leader Jason Todd, “The CombiPAL is a unique product because it performs liquid injections, headspace injections, and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) using the same hardware. This allows us tremendous flexibility in selecting the best preparation method for our client’s samples. We went with the CombiPAL over competing products because LEAP Technologies is very responsive to our needs.”

The CombiPAL can perform automated headspace analysis at incubation temperatures of up to 200°C, which is important in polymer work because it enables headspace analysis of many polymer samples above both their glass transition and melting temperatures.
