US Poker Tour to get Plastic Credentials

Document Security Systems, Inc., a leader in proven, patented protection against counterfeiting and unauthorized copying, scanning and photo imaging, announced today that through its Plastic Printing Professionals, Inc. (P3) subsidiary and its premier distributor partner, International Plastic Cards, Inc. (IPC), the company has won a new agreement to deliver secure plastic credentials to the U.S. Poker Tour (USPT).

IPC, a long-standing distributor partner of P3, develops card products that complement the dynamic needs of broad national customer base. Their services include initial artwork and design, through original card, forms, and envelope manufacturing. In addition, their card processing services provide card personalization by thermal imaging; bar coding, embossing, magnetic stripe encoding, along with direct mailing. IPC also maintains security of their customers’ cards and data.

The 10,000 piece order for secure credentials for the participants of the U.S. Poker Tour, will be embedded with AuthentiGuard® PrismTM, a security feature that enables immediate onsite verification and prevents unauthorized duplication or forgeries. This level of verification is important as the players are nationally ranked, which determines their pay out amounts. The credentials will be used for access throughout the event and will follow the players from casino to casino across the country.

Peter Ettinger, President of DSS, commented, “Our partnership with International Plastic Cards continues to demonstrate the commitment DSS and our Premier Partners give to expanding our product lines, as well as our industry focus and reach. IPC is enabling us to ensure the integrity and security of the U.S. Poker Tour and its participants as it travels from city to city, and casino to casino. The addition of the U.S. Poker Tour to our client list supports DSS’ ongoing evolution as a solutions provider to the gaming industry as well as the significant impact our strategic Premier Partnerships provide to our potential growth.”

John Rosso, Owner of International Plastic Cards, Inc., said, “AuthentiGuard® PrismTM technology allows us to bring a value-added level of authenticity to our customers. This is especially important in the gaming industry where there is an ever-increasing need for improved security and authentication at high-profile events. And what’s particularly relevant is the cost-effectiveness and ease of the technology. We are pleased that AuthentiGuard® technologies are allowing us to offer differentiated card features to our clients, and we look forward to continued growth with our partners.”

The U.S. Poker Tour is an organization designed to create a nationwide network of member-casinos and card rooms, dedicated to promoting the game of poker by offering tiered tournaments and a system for national ranking of its member-players. Only member casinos and card rooms can host USPT events and only USPT member players can participate. USPT creates a structure and organization by offering a National Player Ranking System and standardized tournament format.

Barry L. Dodd, President of U.S. Poker Tour, added, “We are thrilled to have this added layer of security incorporated into our credentials. The gaming industry loses millions of dollars each year to theft, counterfeiting and fraud. Integrating AuthentiGuard® PrismTM into our program not only protects us, but also the players as well as the long list of casinos throughout the U.S. that participate in the Tour.”

DSS' technologies represent the leading anti-counterfeiting print security and authentication technologies on the market today and are believed to be the most effective optical deterrent security technologies in the world that work with the latest models of digital copiers, imaging systems and scanners.
