Introduction

Pure copper has high thermal and electrical conductivity. Nearly 400 different kinds of copper alloys are available. Copper can freely form alloys with many metals. The UNS C61800 copper alloy has high corrosion resistance. It is available in the form of rod.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

The machinability rating of the UNS C61800 copper alloy is 40.

Welding

The UNS C61800 copper alloy can be welded using brazing, soldering, butt welding, coated metal arc welding, seam welding, gas shielded arc welding, and spot welding methods. Oxyacetylene welding method is not preferred for this alloy.

Forging

The UNS C61800 copper alloy can be forged at temperatures ranging from 760 to 885°C (1400 to 1625°F). The hot forgeability rating of the UNS C61800 copper alloy is 50.
