Europium Complexes Having an Aminophenanthroline Ligand as Red Dopants in Electroluminescent Devices

Two substituted phenanthrolines were successfully prepared and europium complexes based on these ligands were synthesized. Several electroluminescent devices using these two europium complexes as dopant emitters were fabricated. Results show that some devices emitted saturated red light.

Tribological Properties of Magnesium Matrix Composite Alloys Dispersed with Mg2Si Particles

While magnesium alloys have excellent strength to weight characteristics, they have poor wear resistance when emplyed in friction applications. Reinforcing with Mg₂Si dispersoids was found to be effective in improving wear resistance and lowering the coefficient of friction.

Surface Alignment of Liquid Crystal Multilayers Evaporated on a Photoaligned Polyimide Film Observed by Surface Profiler

The phenomenon of orientation of liquid crystals by surfaces is a topic of crucial significance for applications such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs). This paper demonstrates a useful technique for imaging and characterizing the surface alignment of liquid crystal multilayers.

ABRESIST abrasion-resistant cast-basalt lining in existing plant pipelines has helped stop erosion and corrosion process. Since installation, no erosion or clogging of the new piping has occurred. The plant is much cleaner and without pipeline leakage, maintenance problems are drastically reduced.

Fracture Toughness of Si3N4/S45C Joint with an Interface Crack

Fracture toughness tests were carried out on Si3N4/S45C joint specimens with interface cracks of different lengths. Evaluation of fracture path and fracture toughness was carried out based on elasto-plastic analysis in which S45C steel was assumed as a linear hardening material.

The Localized Hydrothermal Technique: A New Method for Growing Barium Titanate Films at Atmospheric Pressure

A novel method called Localized Hydrothermal Technique for growing coatings of barium titanate or other complex oxides on titanium. In this method, thin films grow on transition metal substrates by Joule heating of the substrate while it is immersed in an aqueous alkali-earth hydroxide solution.

Preparation and Characterization of Li1-xNi1+xO2 Powder Used as Cathode Materials

Li1-xNi1+xO2 powder was successfully prepared by the sol-gel method using oxalic acid as a chelating agent with the subsequent calcination at 650-800°C for 14-48 h.
