Demand for Baling Equipment Rises as Companies Embrace Recycling

Olympic Wire and Equipment, California's leader in bailing and recycling equipment, announced today that in 2008, demand for baling equipment climbed as companies turned to recycling to reduce costs and eliminate waste in today's challenging economy. Olympic, which sells and installs customized balers and recycling equipment for cardboard, Styrofoam, shrink and stretch film waste, PET bottles and more, provides industrial-grade products that help companies reduce and recycle their trash, significantly lowering waste removal costs, while creating new revenue streams from the sale of those salvaged resources.

"When times are tough, that's when companies take a serious look at untapped areas of their business. And recycling their waste materials is certainly one of those areas," says Jim Walker, CEO, Olympic Wire. "People are surprised to find out they can turn a major expense like trash removal into a whole new revenue source if they just have the right tools to recycle. We have companies that go from spending thousands a month to earning thousands a month just by using balers and baling equipment. It's an incredibly easy way to help not only what you put in the landfills, but in your pockets too."

Since purchasing baling equipment from Olympic, companies like Linder's Furniture have turned trash hauling expenses into a profit center while dramatically reducing the waste that ends up in landfills.

"We went from spending $100,000 a year on sending trash to landfills to generating as much as $160 a ton for our corrugated cardboard and other waste," said Mark Kantor, Operations Manager, Linder's Furniture. "Our new baling equipment transformed that major cost into a profit center almost overnight. As a small, family-owned business, it feels good to make decisions that not only help our customers, but the communities in which they live."
