Hydro Sells Last of Its High Pressure Die Casting Operations to AE Group

A Hydro has sold its last remaining facilities for high pressure die-casting of aluminium engine blocks to German AE Group AG in Bebra.

The deal is part of Hydro's downstream strategy to focus on key processes where the company is having a major impact on the market and adding value.

Hydro is a global leader and independent supplier of automotive engine castings, thanks to proprietary benchmark technologies such as the Core Package System CPS® and the Rotacast® process. International deliveries of advanced lightweight engine blocks and cylinder heads to numerous leading car manufacturers exceed four million parts cast per year.

The divested activities have been part of Hydro Aluminium Mandl&Berger GmbH in Linz, Austria, and AE Group have taken over the facilities, workforce of 27 and – in agreement with customers – the facility's current order book.

Hydro will continue to be a major supplier of aluminium and magnesium-based alloys, including those used for high-pressure die-casters.
