AVX Announces Expansion of LGA Ceramic Decoupling Capacitor Series

AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has expanded its low inductance, 2-terminal land-grid array (LGA) ceramic decoupling capacitor series to include tin lead versions for military and aerospace applications.

Improving system performance by providing low ESL in low inductance applications, AVX’s LGA Decoupling Capacitor Series is constructed in a simplified, 2-terminal package that provides high frequency performance equivalent to an 8-terminal interdigitated capacitor (IDC).

“AVX’s LGA Decoupling Capacitor Series is the industry’s lowest inductance, 2-terminal ceramic capacitor. With the addition of the tin lead termination versions, the LGA capacitor is ideal for high-speed decoupling in military and aerospace applications, in addition to semiconductor package-level and board-level applications,” said Tim Piver, product manager at AVX.

The SnPb termination LGA Decoupling Capacitor Series provides a capacitance value of 0.47uF, a rated voltage at 6V across an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Featuring X7R, X5R, X7S, or X6S dielectric formations, the LGA capacitors are available in multiple case sizes, including 0204, 0306, and 0805.

The SnPb termination LGA Decoupling Capacitors are ideal for high speed decoupling of military and aerospace CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and ASICs.

Typical pricing for the SnPb termination LGA Decoupling Capacitor Series is in the $1.50 - $2.00 range with a lead time of about 12 weeks.
