Cascades to Implement New Technology for Tissue Paper Production

Producer of conservational tissue paper and packing products and pioneer in the recyclable materials recovery, Cascades Tissue Group has proclaimed that the company will invest over $30 million and the implementation of a new technology called the Voith Atmos technology at its tissue paper mill in Candiac in Quebec, Canada.

Cascades will be the first producer in North America to manufacture high-quality tissue paper with fewer recycled fibers. The ‘Tad equivalent’ technology also consumes lesser chemical products, water and energy than the other existing paper production technologies. The Voith Atmos technology allows Cascades to produce tissue paper with more recycled fibers, while the other technologies produce high-quality tissue paper with a majority of virgin fibers. Cascades’ North River and Enviro are some of the greener brands of the company.

Investissement Québec has contributed $4.9 million funding for this project based on Cascades' assurance to sustain employment in Quebec and competitiveness enhancement. The company will introduce a new Ultra bathroom tissue paper under its Cascades Enviro brand soon.
