Opp Film, a division of developer and producer polypropylene-based films, sheets and thermoforming products, has added a new 8.7 meter-wide polyester bi-oriented (BOPET) film line with a production capacity of 35,000 MTPA.
The company has purchased the production line from Brückner Machinenbau and the high-speed line adds to the company’s current product offerings of cast polypropylene (CPP) and bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films. Opp Film has recently commenced two new BOPP production lines and will begin its latest CPP film line in July 2012. The thicknesses of the BOPP films range from 15 to 50 µm and the CPP films vary between 18 and 150 µm. The company has planned to start distributing BOPET film in early 2013. The BOPET films will be offered with metalized and constructive heat-sealing features and special treatments.
Alfredo Barreda, VP of Opp Film, remarked that the advanced technology of the newly purchased BOPET unit will deliver a highly desirable product to its customers and enables them to acquire more market share. Steve Brandt from Packfilm, the North American subsidiary of the Opp Film, stated that the new line will enhance the current product portfolio and allow the company’s customers to buy BOPET, BOPP and CPP films based on their specific needs. The unit is very essential for small- and medium-size converters, as it produces higher efficiencies and savings.
