In recognition of excellence, innovation and achievement in chemical, biochemical and process industries, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has named Dow Corning® 3363 Insulating Glass Sealant as a finalist in the 2016 IChemE Global Awards. Dow Corning is in the running for the “Energy” category award.

IChemE nominees are evaluated on originality; innovation; evidence of potential or achieved technical and/or business success; environmental benefits; impact on stakeholders; and potential for wider application. For this honor, IChemE recognizes the best project or process to demonstrate innovation in renewable, alternative or nuclear energy, efficient energy use or the development of energy production methods that reduce energy intensity.
Dow Corning® 3363 Insulating Glass Sealant is an Insulating Glass sealant technology developed with approximately 50% higher strength than conventional material. This technology allows architects to continue designing innovative glass façades while ensuring the thermal and durable performances of the buildings.
Facades designed and built with more glass and less frame result in increased element sizes that must adhere to the stringent performance demands of high wind and hurricane loads, energy efficiency, acoustical and safety requirements. As joint depths are increased, sealant technology must withstand ever high loads. The high strength of Dow Corning® 3363 Insulating Glass Sealant limits the stress on the primary sealant resulting in reduced gas loss from the Insulating Glass Unit, contributing to façade energy efficiency.
The IChemE Global Award winners will be announced on November 3, 2016, during a ceremony at The Palace Hotel in Manchester, UK.
