Albemarle Improve Fire Safety of Wood-Plastic Composites and Plastic Lumber

Wood-plastic composites (WPC) and plastic lumber are quickly establishing themselves in the building and construction industry as superior alternatives to wood and other materials in decking, siding, and roofing applications. The use of these innovative materials -- products that look like wood but can be processed like plastic -- in other applications such as automotive, furniture and pallets, to name a few, is only likely to increase as manufacturers discover easy solutions for flame retarding their resins to meet product safety and regulatory requirements.

To help manufacturers realize the simplicity and benefits of flame retarding WPC and plastic lumber, technical experts from Albemarle Corporation will host a live, online WebSeminar, "Improving Fire Safety of Wood-Plastic Composites & Plastic Lumber.

The technical tutorial, led by Albemarle product manager Shannon Reed (an experienced flame retardants technical service provider) and Albemarle customer application and technical service advisor Kumar Kumar, will provide guidance on formulating both halogen and mineral flame retardant systems to meet various current and prospective regulations in this growing market.

Albemarle develops, manufactures and services flame retardant solutions for materials found in everything from circuit boards, connectors and enclosures for electronic and electrical devices, to comfort foam in furniture and automobiles; from wire & cable to home insulation, roofing and other construction materials.
