CERAM Demonstrate The Importance of Materials Analysis in Civil Litigation

CERAM, the internationally renowned centre for materials and technology, has proven to almost 3,000 visitors at this year’s Law London event that they really are living in a material world by using the show to stress the key role that materials analysis plays in modern dispute resolutions and civil litigation claims.

Experts from CERAM and CSMA, a subsidiary of CERAM specialising in cases involving the analysis of material surfaces for defects, contaminants and other similar factors; were on hand at the show to explain more about the different analytical techniques now available to the legal community, and their practical applications in cases ranging from patent disputes to professional negligence.

Professor Geoff Edgell, one of CERAM’s qualified Expert Witnesses, was also invited by event organiser The Solicitors Group to deliver a seminar on the subject as part of the Law London training schedule.

Wayne Spencer from the Solicitors Group commented: “Scientific analysis of materials, their composition, effects and properties is no longer simply applicable to criminal forensics. Cases occur all the time, both criminal and civil, that can benefit from scientific materials analysis, which is why we felt that CERAM was an important addition to the event schedule.

“The feedback we have already received from delegates who attended the event suggests that this is an area of interest set to grow and grow.”

CERAM’s resources and facilities are world-renowned. Unlike any other independent testing organisation in the UK, CERAM also boasts a team of scientists specifically trained to deliver findings in a legal context.

CERAM provides analytical support to some of the world’s leading companies and has experience ranging across a broad spectrum of sectors including engineering, pharmaceutical, medical, building and construction, ceramics, and automotive to name but a few.
