Conductive Pre-Elec Concentrates Make Suitable Solutions for ATEX and Metal Replacement Applications

Conductive PRE-ELEC® concentrates from Premix Oy enable most cost-effective product innovations for ATEX and metal replacement applications. PA6, PE-HD, PP and PS based masterbatches can be diluted up to 50% and still obtain surface resistance values less than 109Ω.

According to ATEX regulations materials used in ATEX applications must not accumulate electrical charges. This limits the use of plastic materials because they are insulating in their nature. The easiest way to overcome the problem is to use conductive plastics.

Metal replacement is the other growing application area for conductive plastics. Plastics with their lighter weight, good processability and optimal combination of mechanical properties have challenged metals in many applications.

Conductive PRE-ELEC® concentrates allow more freedom to modify the properties and price level of the end product than traditional conductive compounds. As an example one can dilute concentrate with recycled plastic when looking for most cost-effective solution or pick reinforced plastic when obtaining good mechanical properties is essential.
