Unified Numbering System for Precious Metals and Alloys

The Unified Numbering System for metals and alloys is a composition-based system of commercial metals and alloys. It is a systematic system that does not guarantee accurate composition with impurity limits and performance specifications. The UNS provides each metal and alloy with a specific letter that is followed by five numbers.

There are eight precious alloys and metals categories that include gold, iridium, osmium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium and silver. Given below is a table with the UNS for the precious alloys and metals.

UNS for Precious Metals and Alloys

Precious Metal/Alloy
P00001 - P00999 Gold
P01001 - P01999 Iridium
P02001 - P02999 Osmium
P03001 - P03999 Palladium
P04001 - P04999 Platinum
P05001- P05999 Rhodium
P06001- P06999 Rutenium
