Introduction

UDIMET alloys are super alloys that have cobalt or nickel or iron as their base metal. Super alloys are high-performing alloys that are able to withstand high temperatures and mechanical stress. The hardening of super alloys is done by precipitation hardening, work hardening or solid solution hardening. UDIMET alloys 188, 250, 520, 720, L-605, R41 are some of the commercially available UDIMET alloys.

UDIMET alloy L-605 is an alloy with cobalt as the base metal, and nickel, chromium and tungsten as the other components. This alloy is solid strengthened and exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation, even at 1093°C (2000°F), sulfidation, wear and galling.

This datasheet will look into the chemical composition, properties and applications of UDIMET alloy L-605.
