Study Reveals How Chameleons Control Nanocrystals to Change Color

A research team from the Sections of Biology and Physics of the Faculty of Science from the University of Geneva (UNIGE), Switzerland, has discovered the mechanisms that control and regulate the rapid and complex color changes in chameleons. Many chameleons display this phenomenon during social interactions. The research has been published in Nature Communications.

ESA Awards IComp €240k for Research on Demisable Bio-Composite Space Materials

The Irish Centre for Composites Research (IComp) at the University of Limerick has been awarded €240,000 by the European Space Agency (ESA) for a new space materials research project, entitled “Demisable Bio-Composite Materials”. The 18 month project which commenced last month is led by Dr Walter Stanley, Lecturer in Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Biomedical Engineering at UL.
