Biocoat’s Three New Hydrophilic Coatings for Use in Medical Devices

Biocoat, a provider of lubricious HYDAK hydrophilic coatings, has announced the addition of three new hydrophilic coatings to its product line for use in medical devices. The first coating is HydroSleek2, featuring enhanced processing and biocompatibility, when compared to the previous HydroSleek lubricious coating.

The second one is the HydroSleek Kit, which is another HydroSleek coating that allows the storage and transportation of the product under various conditions. The third one is the Hydak T-040 Kit, which is made from another classic coating called Hydak L-110 that is extensively available in the European and Asian markets.

These coatings are formulated based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which has high molecular weight. This coating technology can be applied in various fields, which include urology, ophthalmology, neurovascular, endoscopy and cardiology. The trade off existing between durability and lubricity found in cross-linked coatings has been overcome by these HydroSleek coatings. A heat-cure method is involved in HydroSleek coatings; therefore both OD and ID may be coated.

These new coating products will be performing as the front line solution of Biocoat to medical device companies, who look forward to minimizing surface friction seen in the devices. All these new coating products offer similar advantages as that of the HYDAK coatings family.
