Ceradyne Receives Order for Ceramic Armour

As the USA braces for war with Iraq, Ceradyne have just received a $3.7 million contract to provide small arms protective inserts to the US Army.

The order is expected to be completed by early April.

This order follows on from a similar order placed on Simula earlier in the month worth $2.54 million and due for delivery in March.

The ceramic armour has advantages over metal armour in that it is lighter enabling greater mobility while it dissipates the energy of an absorbed projectile more effectively, reducing injury to soldiers on impact.
