Kureha Chem Establish Chinese Joint Venture

Japan’s Kureha Chemical Industry have announced that they will set up a joint venture with Toyota Tsusho Corp to produce resin for food packaging in China.

The joint venture will be called Nantong SKT New Material Co, and will be set up in Nantong, Jiangsu Province.

The joint venture will be capitalised to the tune of 4.76 billion yen. Of this 42% will be contributed by Kureha, 15% by Toyota Tsusho (a Japanese trader) and the remaining 43% will come from Chinese partner Henan Shuanghui Investment and Development Co.

The plant is scheduled to commence operation in March 2005, and when fully operational will have a capacity of 10,000 tons per year of vinylidene chloride resin compounds.
