Hydro to Showcase Advanced Products at GIFA Foundry Alloy Show

Hydro will showcase advanced products and share market outlooks at the upcoming GIFA 2007 international foundry trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.

GIFA, which is 12-16 June, is the single most important trade fair for foundry alloys. Hydro will be present at Stand A8 in Hall 10.

Hydro will also participate at the WFO-Technical Forum on 12-14 June in Hall 10. Dr. Hans Ivar Laukli from Aluminium Metal will talk about "Energy absorption and structural ductility of AL-Si die-castings." The Technical Forum, organized simultaneously by the World Foundrymen Organisation (WFO), provides information on current developments, including information technology for foundries.

In connection with the trade show, Hydro will offer an LME Academy Seminar and a Customer Portal Seminar to customers and business partners on 13 and 14 June from 10 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at the Congress Centre, CCD Pavilion, Room 111. The LME seminar will give a short introduction of LME terminology and will focus on the need for hedging and risk management, while the Customer Portal Seminar gives an introduction to the Portal and its main commercial functionalities.

Torstein Dale Sjøtveit, president of Hydro’s Aluminium Metal business area, will deliver a plenary speech at the European Metallurgical Conference next to GIFA on 13 June, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 am. His topic will be "Worldwide developments in Aluminium – and how Hydro is acting upon them."

GIFA is supplemented by the METEC, THERMOPROCESS and NEWCAST trade shows, reflecting the linkages between all relevant technical areas and value added chains in the metal processing industry. The multi-facetted range presented at the GIFA 2007 includes foundries and refractory engineering via foundry chemistry and the production of moulds and cores to secondary treatment of unfinished casts.

Nearly 1,200 exhibitors from 46 countries have registered for the four trade fairs. Traditionally, most companies present themselves at the International Foundry Trade Fair GIFA. Of the 561 registrants for GIFA, 285 come from abroad. The level of interest from Chinese and Eastern European companies is increasing significantly.
