Premix Introduce Ionically Clean Polypropylene Dissipative Compounds

Premix Oy introduces an ionically clean polypropylene based dissipative compound PRE-ELEC® ESD 5500 for injection moulded packages. The product is designed for the needs of Hard Disc Drive industry and meets the typically applied strict cleanliness standards.

PRE-ELEC® ESD 5500 has very low ion content, outgassing and non-volatile residue (NVR) values. Besides the material holds excellent electrical properties and fulfills EOS/ESD S20.20-1999 and IEC 61340-5-1 standards for intimate packaging materials. With PRE-ELEC® ESD 5500 the surface resistance of 108-9Ω can be reached even in atmospheres with low relative humidity. This guarantees permanent electrostatic dissipative effect, which protects the sensitive component from ESD events and can be utilized in intimate packaging of electronics.

PRE-ELEC® ESD 5500 is translucent and colourable. It can also be used in blow moulded and extruded products when ultra clean material is required, e.g. vacuum formed component trays produced from extruded multilayer sheet.
