Researchers Insert Lightweight, Thin Membranes in Aircraft Honeycomb Structures for Noise Reduction

Passengers have to deal with noise while flying in an airplane or helicopter. Researchers from North Carolina State University and MIT have partnered together to create a membrane which can be added into the aircraft structure to significantly decrease low-frequency noise that enters the cabin.

Scientists at Kiel University have successfully recorded video images of the bonding of molecules in ionic liquids onto an immersed electrode. Thanks to modern microscopy techniques, for the first time it was possible to directly view the chemical processes in novel and unusual materials.

Boron Nitride Encapsulation Improves Performance of 2D Semiconductor

Researchers at the Japanese National Institute of Materials Science, Danish Technical University, Yonsei University in Korea, University of Minnesota, Cornell, Harvard and Columbia Engineering have improved the performance of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), a 2D material by encapsulating it in an insulating material, boron nitride (BN).
