The resulting density change of molecules arranged near the surface causes a drop of water to form a sphere and prevents the insect from sinking even though its density is greater than the water’s.

Alcoa Expands Tennessee Operations to Meet Increasing Aluminum Demand for Auto Production

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander, Congressman John Duncan and other local and state officials joined Alcoa Chairman and CEO Klaus Kleinfeld today to break ground on a $275 million expansion of Alcoa’s Tennessee Operations to meet growing aluminum demand for auto production. Aluminum, already the number two material used to build cars, is expected to nearly double by 2025.

Specialty Urethane Polyols Producer, Oxid, Acquired by Huntsman

Huntsman Corporation announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the business of Oxid L.P., a manufacturer and marketer of specialty urethane polyols in Houston, Texas, for an amount of up to $75 million. Oxid generated $86 million of revenue in 2012.
