Wide Bandgap Semiconductors to Lead the Charge for Solar Inverter Discrete Devices

Wide bandgap semiconductors – specifically, silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) – will lead the charge as the market for solar inverter discrete devices, driven by the downstream demand for solar modules, grows to $1.4 billion in 2020, according to Lux Research. That reflects a solid 7% CAGR, slightly lower than the 9% for all renewables and grid-based power electronics.

Selective Probe Detects Hydrogen Sulfide at Nanomolar Levels

University of Oregon chemists have developed a selective probe that detects hydrogen sulfide (H2S) levels as low as 190 nanomolar (10 parts per billion) in biological samples. They say the technique could serve as a new tool for basic biological research and as an enhanced detection system for H2S in suspected bacterially contaminated water sources.
