CIVA ATHENA 2D for UT Inspection Accounts for All Physical Phenomena

CIVA ATHENA 2D is a new “add-on” module available with CIVA UT. This new tool consists in a hybrid module, using both conventional semi-analytical methods of CIVA and the FEM code ATHENA. The connection with Finite Elements allows taking into account more complex phenomena that can occur in a UT inspection.

FreiGEM Team Qualifies for Synthetic Biology Science Competition

Off to Boston: The team from the University of Freiburg has qualified for this year's finals of the "International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition" (iGEM), a science competition focusing on synthetic biology. Tokyo University Professor Wins First Science Award Electrochemistry

The first international “Science Award Electrochemistry” from BASF and Volkswagen goes to Dr. Naoaki Yabuuchi, Tokyo University of Science, Institute for Science and Technology, Tokyo, Japan. The jury of experts from BASF, Volkswagen and representatives from the world of science selected Yabuuchi for the outstanding results of his research on different battery technologies. Yabuuchi showed among other things how new battery materials can improve the efficiency of lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries – a fundamentally new battery concept, which is currently a focus of research.

FSAL Quadruples OIF Defined Data Rate Throughput for Chip-to-Chip Electrical Interface

Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd (FSAL) has demonstrated the transmission of >100Gbps over a single CEI-28G-VSR channel, effectively quadrupling the data rate throughput defined by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) for this chip-to-chip electrical interface. This serves as a benchmark for what can be achieved over short-reach electrical channels using the same field-proven CMOS converter technology deployed in long-haul optical transport systems today.

Benteler-SGL Expands Production Capacities for Automotive Composite Components

Benteler-SGL GmbH, a joint venture of Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbH and SGL Group, hosted a grand opening ceremony of the new production facility of Benteler-SGL in Ort im Innkreis, Austria last week. Verallia Glass Packaging Facility Receives EPA ENERGY STAR Certification

Verallia North America, one of the leading glass container manufacturers for the food and beverage industries in the United States with 13 facilities, celebrated the Milford, Mass., glass packaging facility's receipt of the ENERGY STAR plant certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Thursday. Milford is one of only three of the 46 U.S. container glass facilities to earn this designation. The other two recipients are also Verallia North America facilities – one in Madera, Calif., and one in Sapulpa, Okla.

GYMCL and Guangxi Skylink to Develop Electronic Operations Management Platform for Engines

China Yuchai International Limited ("China Yuchai" or the "Company"), announced today that its main operating subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited ("GYMCL") has entered into a new joint venture with Guangxi Skylink Software Technology Co., Ltd ("Guangxi Skylink") to design, develop, manage and market an Electronic Operations Management Platform ("the Platform").
