Update on JEC Asia Composites Conference

JEC Asia 2011, to be held in Singapore on 18-20 October 2011, is set to showcase the latest composites development in the Asia Pacific region. The JEC Asia Innovative Composites Summit (I.C.S.), to be held concurrently with the main JEC Asia Composites Show, will deliver a range of industry-specific seminars and conferences that explore the latest breakthrough innovations in composites. This is the second of three news updates in the build-up to the premier platform for composites innovations in Asia-Pacific.

JEC Asia 2011: Bringing together Asian composites industry players

Major composites firms and industry associations from across the Asia Pacific region will gather at the JEC Asia 2011 Composites Show and Conferences for three days of information exchange and networking. Innovation is the lifeblood of global composites developments, and the three-day annual event is set to build on the enormous growth potential of the Asian composites industry. Here are some of the main themes and highlights for JEC Asia 2011:

Bright future for carbon fiber composites

Spurred by robust growth in key market segments such as automotive and aviation, the global carbon fiber market is experiencing strong growth. New advances in carbon fiber reinforced materials will further push the envelope in application developments across several technical industries, especially helping manufacturers and OEMs to achieve weight reduction and improve fuel efficiency. This year's JEC Asia I.C.S. program will put the spotlight on the innovative use of carbon composites with the debut of the new Global Carbon Fiber Market Conference with the testimony of the major stakeholders in areas such as Deakin University (Australia), The University of Tokyo (Japan), Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii AS (Turkey), Hyosung Corp (Republic of Korea), Toray Industries (Japan) and Mitsubishi Rayon (Japan). The Conference will examine the key developments in carbon fiber and composite products that are propelling growth, as well as the challenges faced in industrializing carbon fiber composites.

Lightweight composites for automobiles

The aerospace industry isn't the only segment that is increasingly concerned with weight reduction, especially with the automotive and ground transportation industry also looking at ways of reducing petrol consumption and carbon footprint. The increased integration of composite materials such as carbon- or glass-fiber reinforced polymers into vehicle part design is also integral to the global automotive industry's commitment to lower carbon emissions. The JEC Asia I.C.S. Conferences and Forums will feature new composites production processes dedicated to the automotive industry, as well as a presentation by Volkswagen covering the latest insights into the use of carbon fiber materials in the automotive industry.

Adopting automated solutions to stay competitive

JEC Asia 2011 is set to introduce the latest process automation capabilities that help Asian manufacturers achieve cost optimization, enhanced productivity and improved product quality. The JEC Asia I.C.S. Conferences and Forums will also provide the platform for Asian visitors to be exposed to the latest means of integrating automated solutions into composites production to gear up and stay ahead of the competition. Industry experts and automation specialists from CG Tech, Flow International, Kuka, Oceania Composites Engineering, Steinbichler Optotechnik and Tecnatom would share insights into the latest means of integrating process automation into mass composites production.
