Syntax-Brillian Joint Venture Commences Production of LCoS-Based Light Engines

Syntax-Brillian Corp. has announced that Sino-Brillian Display Technology Corp. ("Sino-Brillian"), a joint venture with China South Industries Group Corp. ("China South"), has commenced operations at its facility in Nanyang, China.

As announced in April 2006, Sino-Brillian was formed to assemble and market LCoS(TM)-based light engines to television manufacturers, initially in China, and eventually worldwide. The partnership -- in which China South, a state-owned enterprise, has a 51% interest -- was created to combine Syntax-Brillian's expertise in LCoS technology with China South's expertise in manufacturing optical components.

"The transition from concept to actual production has been about as seamless as one could hope," said Vincent F. Sollitto Jr., Syntax-Brillian's chairman and chief executive officer. "Following the installation of equipment, the establishment of manufacturing procedures, and the training of engineers and assemblers, the joint venture has commenced production on a purchase order for 1,500 light engines for delivery to Chinese television manufacturers in the third quarter of 2006. We are extremely pleased with the initial ramp in production, and preparations for increased capacity are well under way. As previously stated, our aim is to establish Sino-Brillian as a global leader in the manufacture of light engines, with targeted production volume of 300,000 units annually."
