The sensor manufacturer OPTEX is rolling out its outdoor and high-resolution indoor laser sensor RLS-2020S. The makers say that this complements its REDSCAN mini sensor that features a 20x20m detection range.

New Treatment can Artificially Create Physical Properties in Materials

Researchers from the Technical University of Freiberg and the University of Siegen in Germany collaborated to conduct a study which demonstrates that the physical properties of strontium titanate (SrTiO3) in its single crystal form can be modified using a simple electrical treatment. The mineral strontium titanate is studied for its superconducting properties.

Lasagna Stickiness Testing

With lasagna being a hugely popular dish both as supermarket ready meals and in industrial meals for pubs and cafes, the texture of the final product is extremely important. The stickiness is related to the starch content of the pasta sheet, which in turn is related to the cooking temperature and time. Measuring pasta stickiness with the TA1 texture analyzer from Lloyd Instruments allows these parameters to be optimized.
