High-Throughput X-ray Imaging Method Studies Single Biological Particle Structure

A research team from Uppsala University has developed an imaging method to study biological particle structures using X-ray lasers. They used carboxysome – a tiny cellular organelle in photosynthetic bacteria to test the method. The results showed that the technique provides an in-depth knowledge in understanding the structure of smaller organisms through 3D imaging.

New Study Reveals Piezotronic Effect in Atomically Thin 2D Materials

Columbia Engineering and the Georgia Institute of Technology researchers have developed an optically transparent, light-weight, flexible electric generator made of an atomically thin material, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). In a paper published in the Nature journal, the researchers reported the observation of piezotronic and piezoelectric effects in the two-dimensional (2D) MoS2 material.
