Michelman has hired Mr. Manoj Deorukhkar as its new India Country Manager, a newly created position at the company.
A Low-cost, eco-friendly and rechargeable battery has been developed by a team of researchers headed by Sri Narayan, professor of chemistry at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. This battery could be utilized to store energy in solar power facilities on rainy days. The research was funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E), a division of the U. S. Department of Energy.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid UPM researchers have obtained a patent for gypsum boards that can store thermal energy, which will bring down up to 40% of a building’s energy consumption. The boards along with strategies like natural airing and sunlight can bring down energy consumption, especially in Spain where nearly 80% of the energy is imported.

Specialty chemical company Rhodia, a member of the Solvay Group, and Cobalt Technologies, a developer of advanced bio-based chemicals, have announced that they will jointly develop and operate a biobutanol demonstration plant in Brazil. In Latin America, Brazilian bagasse and other non-food feedstock will be converted into bio n-butanol using Cobalt's technology. Butanol is employed as an industrial chemical in solvents, paints, adhesives and inks.

Alcoa, a manufacturer of primary aluminum, fabricated alumina and aluminum, and alumina, has declared that Pennsylvania General Energy (PGE) awarded a contract to Alcoa Oil & Gas to make aluminum alloy drill pipe of 3,500 ft long.
