Unique Energy-Saving Technique for Producing Composites

Scientists of the Department of Metallurgy, Powder Metallurgy, and Nanomaterials of Samara Polytech designed the composites on the basis of the methods developed by them, that makes it possible to use the obtained compounds under conditions of increased wear and tear, in corrosive environments. More recently, a team led by the head of the department, Professor Alexander Amosov received a patent for a unique technology.

New Way to Explore Viscous Coupling Effects of Multiphase Fluid Flow in Porous Materials

Many applications, including carbon dioxide storage and oil recovery, involve the simultaneous flow of two or more phases of matter (solid, liquid, gas, etc.) through porous materials. Pore-scale modeling of such multiphase flow has struggled to capture important phenomena referred to as viscous coupling effects. But now, a research team has developed a method that overcomes this limitation with potential applications to improve fuel technologies and carbon capture systems.
