BASF announced that its new Ultradur LUX B4300 G4 plastic material, toughened with 20% glass fibers, is now being used by Precision Motors Deutsche Minebea (PM DM), a Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany-based motor development center, to build the housing cover of an innovative air flap control unit.

Bredero Shaw, pipecoating business of ShawCor, has secured more than US$40 million worth contracts to deliver pipeline coatings and associated services for the Petróleos Mexicanos-operated Linea 5 Pipeline Project in Mexico. The clients are Tubacero, Dragados Offshore and Swiber Offshore Construction. The coating work for the Linea 5 project will start in the Q3 of 2012.

Corning, a provider of specialty glass and ceramics, announced that its Singapore subsidiary and Samsung Display have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Wuxi New District to create a new venture for the production of TFT-LCD glass substrates in China. The new company will be located in Wuxi New District, Jiangsu Province, China.
A Long-term partnership agreement was signed between BioAmber and Evonik Industries for the manufacture and development of sustainable chemical catalysts from the bio-based succinic acid. GBL (gamma - butyrolactone), THF (tetrahydrofuran) and BDO (1,4- butanediol) are some the industrial chemicals which will be made from these catalysts.
